In the sixth book of this saga, while everyday life becomes increasingly tedious for the Morrow family and their friends as they cope with the frustration at how long it is taking to defeat Hitler and his Nazis, optimism and confidence appears in many forms. Yet new friendships, unexpected wealth, lost souls, conflicts with the law and accidents muddle the waters. As do illegitimate babies and news of deeds long ago committed. A second Blitz partly returns them to the condition they found themselves in back in 1940, but by the end of the year, as Europe is set ablaze with the Second Front, back on English soil, expectations that the war will end soon and that they will have a future is their greatest hope.
This was one of those novels written many years ago and it has now been extensively rewritten in 2024 eliminating the grammatical errors that I had previously made. I humbly apologise for those early readers who struggled with it and made this book such a success.
