Daffodils in Autumn is a fantasy incorporating true life values.
'Complex, simple, devious and misleading'
Simon Sharp, London
'Having been privileged to have read Daffodils in Autumn I can say that readers are in for a treat'
David Balcombe, London
"I loved this story, essentially of time travel from a very female perspective, the hardness of life for a female in time gone by. Not Doctor Who whipping in and out of time, but someone being stuck in a time and not being understood, and the very real human emotions that come about with these changes.
I the story was very clever, very well thought out and well researched. I would thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who loves a story with many turns and twists, that stretches your imagination and emotions"
Teresa Canel, New Zealand
2001. An autumn break for a young London mother . . . An isolated stretch of Dorset coastline . . . An unexplained phenomenon . . .
Daffodils in Autumn tells the compelling story of a young woman’s horrific descent into paranoia and madness dictated by the desires of a female genius. The young woman, and her daughter's past, present and future become meaningless, as not one thing appears to be what it is.
In the far future, human society in England has scientific proof that no other form of intelligent life exists elsewhere in their galaxy. With the possibility of the human personality existing before birth, or surviving physical death deemed to be unlikely, a time develops that throws their culture into an unfamiliar period. Fuelled by the anxiety of isolation, and separated from ethical and moral constraints, humans struggle to maintain order unaccompanied by the once familiar fear of eternal spiritual punishment. Two insignificant, and artificially grown humans though are to change this viewpoint.
Daffodils In Autumn has been described as a psychological fantasy. To offer a synopsis of the plot would be impossible without spoiling it as it does not contain a 'twist in the tail' but is, in its entirety, a kink.
However, it appears to be about a modern young, poorly educated mother and what happens to her and her daughter over a period of twenty or so years when they find themselves under impossible and inescapable circumstances.
